We were extremely fortunate to have the lovely Tamara join our team in 2023, to complete her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. It was immediately apparent that Tamara was a wonderful fit for our team and we did not hesitate to offer her a permanent position once she gained her Certificate IV in June 2024. Not content to rest on her laurels, Tamara then commenced an Emergency Nursing course in November 2024, and it is her dedication to continuing education and always striving to know more and do better, which makes her such a wonderful asset to our team. Tamara’s favourite areas are reproduction, pathology and surgical anaesthetics and she has enjoyed expanding her knowledge and skills in these areas over the past 12 months.
Tamara was initially a farmhand on a rotary dairy, then jumping to the thoroughbred racing industry doing stablehand duties, strapping for local races and attended occasional riding events. In this time Tamara completed her Certificate III in Agriculture and Performance Horses.
Tamara has brought with her significant livestock and horse handling experience and she is also confident handling birds and reptiles, which is wonderful for when our Vets are treating injured and sick wildlife.
Tamara’s interests include mustering cattle and also riding the Stock and Quarter Horses doing trails and dressage. She loves swimming with her fiancé Dylan and walking her beloved dogs at local parks and beaches
Tamara has a menagerie of pets, with three dogs, three cats and plenty of birds! Tamara enjoys breeding cockatiels and king quails and loves her rainbow lorikeet companion Lorry.
When asked what she loves about working at Wingham & Valley Vets Tamara said: “I love being a part of a supportive team with the same ambitions, goals and values. Within a clinic that caters to a variety of animals to which we can give them the utmost care. I never discriminate against anything that comes through the door and is presented to the clinic. Like the old saying I love and adore all creatures great and small!”
