Our Specialised Ophthalmology Equipment

Much of the difficulty with accurately diagnosing ocular conditions in animals is having the correct equipment. At Wingham & Valley Vets we have specialised ophthalmology equipment that enables us to properly diagnose eye diseases and monitor progress after treatment.

Our vets have undergone further training in Ophthalmology to allow them to accurately diagnose and treat a variety of eye conditions including: corneal ulcers, cherry eye, KCS (keratoconjunctivitis sicca), entropion and glaucoma.

Our soft tissue surgeons are experienced in the surgical correction of various eye diseases including cherry eye and entropion and can perform conjunctival grafts for severe corneal ulcers.

Tonometry

Measuring the intraocular pressure within the eye is essential to any thorough ocular exam. Conditions such as glaucoma can cause vision loss within hours and early diagnosis is key to saving vision and indeed the eye itself.

Surgical Loupes

Problems in the eye can be miniscule and this equipment allows superior magnification of the eye for both the eye examination and surgery.

Ophthalmoscopy

The back of the eye contains the retina, which converts the light that enters the eye into nerve signals interpreted in the brain. Examining the retina can reveal disease in other parts of the body and we have multiple types of ophthalmoscopes to suit all patients.
