Melina graduated from Charles Sturt University with a Bachelor in Veterinary Biology/Bachelor in Veterinary Science and joined our team in 2023, having proven herself to be a wonderful student during her final year rotation with us in 2022. Melina’s lovely personality and outstanding theoretical knowledge meant that we just couldn’t let the opportunity to employ her pass us by.
Originally from Sydney, Melina developed a keen interest in Rural Mixed Practice while spending lots of time at family properties in Tamworth and the Southern Highlands. She has been a keen horse rider since a very young age and having horses and many other pets has sparked a strong love for Veterinary Medicine, and especially Equine Medicine. Melina has enjoyed working with our team of Equine Reproduction Vets, resulting in many successful pregnancies to both chilled and frozen semen.
Melina shows a considerable aptitude for Small Animal Medicine and Surgery and her willingness to learn and improve her skills have meant she has progressed rapidly to become a very capable surgeon and clinician. Her calm, professional demeanour paired with a genuine warmth and kindness, provide reassurance and comfort to patients and clients alike. Challenging cases are handled with professionalism and a determination to find the best outcome for your beloved pets.
Melina recently attended the Australian Veterinary Association conference, which covered many aspects of both Large and Small Animal Medicine, helping to improve her depth of knowledge.
Outside of work Melina enjoys, horse riding, playing tennis, soccer, and touch football. She is a keen beach swimmer and is getting into hiking around the beautiful Manning region. You may often see her down at the beach with her dog Walter or on a horse by the ocean.
We love having Melina as part of our practice, she is practical, efficient and shows genuine care towards her patients and her co-workers, which helps to make Wingham & Valley Vets such an enjoyable place to be.
