Alissa graduated with First Class Honours from the University of Sydney and joined the practice in 2016 as a Director. Much of her childhood was spent in the beautiful Manning Valley and Alissa and her husband Michael decided it would be a wonderful place to work and raise their young family. Alissa had wanted to be a vet since she was 3 years old and she enjoys her job immensely.
Prior to joining Wingham & Valley Vets, Alissa worked in Mixed Practice in Tasmania and the Hunter Valley and she loves the variety of cases that the Practice has to offer. Alissa has published a research paper in the Journal of Dairy Science on the use of sexed-semen in Dairy heifers.
Alissa’s primary roles in the Practice are as a Surgeon and Practice Manager. Her special interest is Soft Tissue Surgery, especially complex and large lump removals requiring reconstructive surgery, wound management, thoracic surgery, gastrointestinal surgery and bladder surgery. She greatly enjoys more challenging surgical cases and takes immense pride in saving lives and returning beloved pets to their owners, healthy and happy. Alissa also really enjoys Small Animal Dentistry and firmly believes that good dental care makes a huge difference to the quality of life of her pet patients.
