Amber has been a veterinary nurse for over 15 years, having completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2010. Amber’s special interests are surgical nursing, dentistry and animal behaviour and training. Amber joined the practice in 2015 having come from an excellent small animal practice in Newcastle and she has been a very valuable addition to our team.
Amber has undertaken significant extra study in behaviour and she helps to maintain high standards of patient handling and care within the Practice, with particular emphasis on Fear-Free handling principles to ensure patient fear, stress and anxiety is minimised at all times.
Amber is a very competent, caring and experienced veterinary nurse. She is also our nursing team leader and brings a vast amount of experience to this role. Amber is a supportive, gifted and motivated teacher and she is always looking for new and exciting ways to improve our standards of care to achieve the best possible outcomes for all our patients. Wingham & Valley Vets and its patients are very lucky to have a Head Nurse of Amber’s calibre helping to drive and maintain standards within the Practice. Amber’s commitment to pursuing excellence is profound and Amber will not rest if she knows there could be a better way of treating a condition or nursing a patient. Recent continuing education courses that Amber has completed include: Orthopaedic Nursing and the ANZCVS Advanced Anaesthesia Monitoring Course. Amber has also recently attended the VNCA Nurse’s Conference.
Amber’s other interests include native wildlife care and outside of work, Amber loves going on adventures with her dogs Brutus and Pixie to the beach, dreaming about owning a horse again and spending time with partner, daughter and family.
